Day 33 of 40 Days of Prayer

35 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” 36 So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). 37 But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.

38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”

39 When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

41 The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”  (Mark 4:35-41 NLT)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word that guides us, directs us, instructs us and comforts us. We thank you that Jesus gave a direction, the disciples listened, and during their journey they encountered a storm – a trial.  They were afraid and didn't think they could finish the journey, but they knew they could call out to Jesus and He alone, could save them; they could receive the peace and calm that this world can not bring – but only you can give. We ask for forgiveness of our sins, sins against you and each other; sins where our faith and pride has kept us from trusting in you.

We say a prayer for those going through the storms of life; we pray for them to call out to you God and your son Jesus – so they can receive their salvation, peace and comfort. We pray for this nation to see that although we may face many storms, we are never alone, God is here and He is watching us – waiting for us to call out to Him, so He can calm the storm around us and within us. We pray for the people of our land that don’t know you, that they would cast down their idols and lift their hands to you God; surrender their worries, fears and troubles and give them to you. We pray for our leaders to come to you on bended knee and give you the honor and glory that you are due; so that they can receive your divine guidance and wisdom through these times we are entering.

We pray for the safety of all the people that are being impacted by the present storm; that they would be protected and kept from any and all harm. We thank you for your hand upon our nation, protecting us and blessing us. In Jesus’ name we pray ~ AMEN!
